Highly beneficial for all, Yin Yoga focuses on the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine. It achieves stimulation and release of the tendons, ligaments, bones, and joints through long holds and a deeper awareness. Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of the muscles. Some props are used to disengage the musculature to gain access to deeper tissues. Holds can last from 3-10 minutes per pose. The focus of Yin Yoga is to stress and thereby strengthen the deep tissues of the body.
